Dmitry Gorbunov, a partner at Rustam Kurmaev & Partners leading the firm’s criminal defense practice, is to speak at Criminal Liability of Businesses – 2018, a Pravo.ru-sponsored conference which will be held on December 12, 2018 at the Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow.

The event’s organizers invite attendees to discuss liberalization of Russian criminal legislation and setting up the economic security function within a company. Each topic will be addressed in a separate panel session. As has become already tradition, the conference will bring together representatives of the government, corporate counsels from various industries, and leading experts in corporate criminal defense in Russia to exchange experience and shed light on the current situation and trends in area of legislation.

Dmitry Gorbunov is set to speak at the conference’s inaugural session, Trends: Criminal Law Liberalization vs the Specifics of Criminal Law Enforcement in Russia. In this session, experts will focus on amendments to criminal law, trends in Russian criminal law enforcement, ways of combating procedural blackmail, and other pressing issues. Dmitry’s report is entitled Implications of Criminal Proceedings for Businesses: Current Situation, Trends, Legislator’s Actions.

Mr Gorbunov specializes in defending clients in corporate disputes, commercial disputes, cases involving hostile takeovers, and criminal cases. He has vast experience working with law enforcement agencies and has successfully represented victims at all stages of the process, from internal investigations to prosecution.
