In the midst of the legal busy season, Rustam Kurmaev & Partners, with the support of Pravo.ru, a leading legal information and research portal, is set to hold a workshop: Criminal Liability of Businesses: How to Protect Yourself and Your Company in 2019. The event is designed for top managers, commercial directors, and lawyers of Russian and international companies, and is scheduled for February 12, 2019 at the Marriott Royal Aurora.
During the first part of the workshop, speakers will discuss trends and new legislation pertaining to criminal law and business. Rustam Kurmaev, a managing partner at Rustam Kurmaev & Partners, will focus on how to organize proper interaction between a company’s in-house lawyers and law enforcement authorities. Dmitry Gorbunov, who heads the firm’s criminal practice, is scheduled to discuss the importance of legal acts governing commercial disputes to build a correct defense for management in criminal cases, while Dmitry Kletochkin discuss the criminal liability of a company’s top management which may result from bankruptcy.
The second part of the workshop will focus on the risks of criminal prosecution for large production facilities. Dmitry Gorbunov, RKP partner, and Alexey Lezhnikov, attorney, will touch on the issues of criminal and administrative liability distribution among the company’s managers, and will look at real cases involving the prosecutor’s supervisory role in investigations of crimes allegedly committed by large production facilities. To conclude the workshop, Dmitry Gorbunov will conduct a focus session on the Specifics of Investigation of “Human Factor” Crimes under the Russian Criminal Code.
