RKP’s Managing Partner Rustam Kurmaev will take part in the Conference "The Whole Truth about Compliance: Beneficial for Business or a Bureaucratic Barrier?"

Public servants, members of the Russian Corporate Counsel Association, and leading legal consultants will share their compliance expertise. They will discuss the relevance of compliance in Russia, the role of regulators and sanctions, the difficulties in building a compliance system, special kinds of compliance, and the legal department’s role in implementing compliance procedures. Managers from major international corporations, law firm partners, and representatives of the Russian Government’s Regulatory Policy Department, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Intellectual Property Rights Court will all share their views regarding current issues in the area of compliance.

In his speech, Rustam Kurmaev will discuss compliance as a system of measures aimed at minimizing criminal risks.

“Global companies often find it difficult to determine which compliance mechanisms their in-house lawyers need to build. In my presentation, I will address this issue and give a brief description of practical ways to distribute responsibility. I will also discuss how to maintain good relations with law enforcement, and which aspects need to be sorted out proactively. We will also look into the so-called ‘toxic areas’ (such as government money, subsidies, and payments to counterparties) and explain how to identify those employees facing the highest risk”, commented Mr Kurmaev.

The Russian Corporate Counsel Association is a non-profit partnership founded in 2003.
